Jan. 12

Zack has had an eventful 24 hours. Last night he managed to pull out his NG tube (the feeding tube through the nose/throat), which took a couple of tries to put back in. He was able to breathe on his own today as well, although they have him back on the c-pap for tonight. They took out his central line today as well, which unfortunately caused some problems (heartrate drop, etc) but he is okay overall. He is now off of all the sedatives! Both occupational and physical therapy worked with him today, getting him to sit up twice and working to restore use of his hands. His left hand especially is having difficulty regaining motion and grip. He was even able to talk a little while today, with the help of a cap for his trach tube. That made him very happy! Hopefully soon he can get out of the ICU. Praise God for this progress!

  1. We had special prayer for Zack tonight in our study group, as well as praise for the improvement. We continue to miss you at Bible Study Marsha and all of the ladies are praying for you and the family. Tell Zack that we miss him too. Love, Vonnie & Wayne

  2. Laura, I've been praying for Zack consistently. I work at Lodi Memorial, and they floated me to ICU one day. Zack wasn't my patient that day, but I knew he was there and it broke my heart to see him in such a condition. It was hard for me to get through the day. I am so glad to hear the good reports. I can't wait for him to be totally well. May God continue to bless your family and put His healing hand upon your brother. Much love, Beth Carlson
